Dear Rich:
We celebrated our first anniversary on December 13,
2005 as residents of these fine facilities. Some families
may have difficulties adjusting due to downsizing or
other factors. This certainly has not been the case
with us.
We would like to enumerate just a few reasons why very
little adjustment to our living was experienced.
Let me start with our meeting(s) with you and the professionalism
that was accorded us. Then continued contacts with Tom
Nelson during the construction of the addition made
us feel that any requests were considered and if appropriate
were incorporated in the renovation, we were made to
feel as we were playing a part in the construction and
renovation. In addition the final closing was timed
so that the proceeds from our previous house closing
and thus tied in with our financial liquidly. Tom was
on top of the construction and was always available
as we had questions during the construction through
our occupancy.
The sidewalk provided for Mary to use as a shortcut
to the car was very beneficial and appreciated.
These are so many available facilities here an in our
first year we have not utilized. We know that we will
take advantage of these as time goes by. We have not
eaten at the dining room as yet but we did enjoy the
one picnic we attended (indoors due to rain). The other
adjustment that we must make is to have the main meal
at noon, so this year we have continued our habits of
eating out several nights a week and utilizing our kitchen
on the others. This too will change in the near future.
I read the menu on the board when I pick up our mail
and many of the entrees look enticing, and particularly
that a choice of two entrees is available.
We cannot say enough how well your maintenance crew
operates, John, Roy and Tad. They are very prompt in
reacting to any problem that we might experience. They
are on top of the problem and also friendly, smiling
and correct the problem. (Mostly different attitudes
than I experienced when we had to call contractors for
any repairs). Now with winter, the snow arrives and
they handle the snow removal and deicing early as necessary.
The housekeeping couple that services our home weekly
and we appreciate their work and they are very pleasant
and willing to perform any other small job which is
most helpful due to Mary’s limitations. We also
recognize that they do their job well, and always with
a smile.
I have also taken advantage of the Nursing Center facility,
having a problem that started Friday night and by Saturday,
late afternoon, and with a firm suggestion from your
Father, Mary called the nurse and explained the symptoms
and within five minutes, the nurse Judy Horvath and
an aide were here with a wheelchair. She determined
my oxygen level was low and they wheeled me over to
the N.C. and I received excellent care and attention.
It certainly is a comfortable feeling to have such a
facility available with such competent, willing and
pleasant staff.
I want to mention the great service that we experienced
with the forwarding of our mail to California from January
to April. Both Nancy (mail room) and Shannon did an
outstanding job. They forwarded our mail a week in Priority
Mail envelopes. Every year prior to this our mail service
was terrible, worrying about receiving bills timely
and several times had to call CitiBank for the balance
in order to pay in time.
Rich, this letter is quite lengthy, but could not condense
and still express our experiences. The Buehler Home
Facility, vision by Mrs. Buehler, built by your Grandfather
and the Administration role continued under the auspices
of your Dad and Uncle Jack who added the Town Houses
and subsequent additions and improvements which involved
you and now the huge responsibility rests on your shoulders.
You are certainly handling this responsibility very
well and credit for your leadership.
We consider ourselves that we have been provided with
facilities, care and services that will be of the highest
quality. This is a relief to us knowing that we will
not be a worry or burden to any of our children when
our quality of life should deteriorate. The Nursing
Center is such as excellent facility and it is a comfort
that we will have personal and professional care when
needed.
Rich, to summarize, we thank you for the opportunity
to be in our Town House that provides our needs without
worrying. There were always problems and concerns about
maintaining our previous home, as lovely as it was.
The facilities are so well kept, clean, personnel catering
to and concerned about the care and welfare of each
and every resident. The Home with all their great attributes
must be the “best kept secret in Peoria”
or you would be overrun with people desiring acceptance.
We appreciate the smiles that we see on ALL of the
Staff and their willingness to aid us.
We want to thank you and the entire staff for the peace
of mind with no worries and assistance when needed.
Also we want to extend to you, your family and the
entire staff a Most Merry Christmas and a Happy and
Healthy New Year.

As my wife and I approached our senior years of retirement
we were not satisfied with the programs offered by nursing
homes. We desired a retirement home with a total flexible
transition through life, from private home to total
care. Buehler Home offered this arrangement.
Initially, in our earlier years health care was not
a factor, but as we aged it has become a major part
of our life. The medical staff here at Buehler is very
competent and compassionate. Medical facilities have
grown to meet both the current needs and current health
standards. If our medical condition requires hospitalization
Buehler medical staff has the option of utilizing one
of the three excellent hospitals in the local area.
Medical service here at Buehler permitted us to cancel
our expensive and questionable long-term insurance policies.
Dietary service is always a high priority requirement
when you serve over two hundred residents. Each one
a gourmet cook in their own kitchen. New government
nutritional standards have been employed as the basis
for our food menus, Buehler continues to explore and
serve nutritional and tasteful meals.
Several other service groups provide services hidden
from the public eye, they are housekeeping and Maintenance.
Housekeeping is extensive in their duties and service,
laundry of bedding, personal clothing, dining room linen,
interior decorating, apartment cleaning, and seasonal
decoration. All such service served with a smile. The
maintenance department repairs or replaces the many
and various mechanical and building systems. Buehler
is run very efficiently.

I moved to Buehler mainly for peace of mind. I have
complete freedom while knowing that any problem or anxiety
I have is attended to. Buehler is definitely a home
away from home. I have many new friends, more than I
ever had, sharing time with me. They are all family
living with me. Everyone makes me feel like I belong.
I wish for anyone coming to Buehler the peace of mind
that I have found.

I entered Buehler Home because I wanted security, companionship,
health care, and no financial worries as I grew older.
After checking other homes, it was easy to decide that
Buehler had all these things and more to offer. I have
been a resident for four years and have enjoyed a very
happy life here. All I can say is “What’s
not to like about life at Buehler Home?”

The reason I chose Buehler Home for my life care facility
are many. For example the building is secured, that
is very important to me. The health care center is available
if needed. I have used it in the three years I have
made my home at Buehler. There are activities both at
the home and outside. The activity staff does a wonderful
job of planning for us. The beautiful decorated building
and grounds, the dining room with new tablecloths and
napkins only add to the elegance.
Buehler Home is not perfect but it is as close as I
could get to home. Everyone tries very hard to please
us. I guess you can tell I am sold on Buehler Home.

I first became aware of the Buehler Home when my two
aunts became residents. Seeing how much they enjoyed
the many amenities available to them, it was an easy
decision for my sister and myself to join them. Another
sister and her husband plus a cousin and his wife soon
followed.
I especially appreciate the friendly and caring staff.
They make life very easy and enjoyable for all of us.
What’s not to like about having your apartment
cleaned and all of your meals served in a lovely dining
room. Many activities are also planned each month. Last
but not least is the security of knowing I’ll
receive excellent nursing care if and when I need it.
I’ve never once regretted my decision to live
in what my 3 year old granddaughter calls “Grandmas
Biiiig House.”

I had a sister and a sister-in-law who lived in the
Buehler Home. I saw what a great place it was –
such pleasant, efficient, caring employees and unbelievable
amenities – three meals a day, weekly room cleaning,
yearly house cleaning, laundry, varied activities, entertainment
and a chance to meet new people. How could I go wrong!
The very best thing is I know I will be taken care of
for the rest of my life and will never be a burden to
my children.

Friends in my card groups introduced me to Buehler
Home. One lady in my afternoon groups lived at Buehler.
When she entertained I was always impressed by the beauty
and elegance of my surroundings, but most of all I was
impressed by the warmth of everyone – the residents,
the employees, and the people in charge.
My husband and I belonged to another group that met
for dinner and cards. What fun it was to go to Buehler
when another friend of ours entertained. It was almost
as great as entertaining at home and much less work.
When my husband died, I decided to spend the rest of
my life at Buehler. It was one of the best decisions
I have ever made. Now after living here six years I
appreciate more and more my Buehler family – the
residents, and the “always willing to help”
employees. I’m well taken care of, I’m secure.
I’m happy, and my family appreciates the good
life I have here. I appreciate the fact that my family
can have a good life, too and know that I am well cared
for, secure and happy.

Having no children of our own and no family in the
immediate area, my wife and I felt that we needed a
“life time care” facility. Buehler Home
was a natural fit for us. Approximately 5 minutes from
where we had lived most our married life and a few blocks
from the Evergreen Square - Sheridan Village area.
We have the option of using the independent doctor
or the facility doctor with unlimited access to the
health care facility. It is nice to have “Instant
Help” available at the touch of a button.
My wife likes the weekly housekeeping and the laundry
availability.

The reasons for our decision to move into Buehler Home
was:
1. That we should plan on future needs because our
family of seven daughters were all living and working
out of town.
2. Buehler Home provided what we felt was best. Location:
shopping, church, transportation, medical and nursing
care, doctor on-site and nursing care available.
3. We knew a lot of the residents already there.
4. Our children felt our going into Buehler Home was
a gift to them. They do not worry about us now.
